A new pamplet has been published asking for the support of Irish Manchester in a new project being developed by Fr Pat Clarke in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Dominic Mulcahy says:
"Once again a call from across the sea needs an urgent response from the good people of Manchester. As many of you will know, one of our favourite sons, Fr Pat Clarke, an Irish Holy Ghost Father, has spent almost a lifetime at his mission in South America. Fr Pat works for and lives with the poorest of the poor in Sao Paulo, one of the biggest cities in the world. For almost twenty years now the Irish community in Manchester has supported Fr Pat's mission."
Fr Pat's latest project is called 'City of the Angels'. It is hoped that a sacred place can be created one hour away from the city of Sao Paulo. Children and adolescents, who have been wounded by society, will find a refuge where they can develop emotionally and physically.
Fr Pat says, "Our aim will be to make the project self- sustainable and self-reliant, though we will always need the help and solidarity of people who believe in our cause and wish in some way to be part of it."
You can contribute to the City of the Angels fund through Dermot Clarke (07904 486303) or Dominic Mulcahy (07930 647467). Ann Mitchell (0161 943 4944). Sean Foy (0161 225 3524)
